I have spent years of my life in red-light districts and shelters, watching survivors of human trafficking overcome so much. I have also seen the pain of what it means to survive something so horrific.
These experiences have led me to become passionate about prevention - because, yes, human trafficking can be prevented.
Traffickers exploit vulnerabilities, and education is one of the best ways to overcome vulnerabilities.
There is nowhere to go for safety and freedom for children living in extreme poverty and war. In Sudan and South Sudan, over 70% of school-age children are not receiving an education. In these conditions, it’s become more likely for a 13-year-old girl to die in childbirth than learn to read and write.
This February, I am working with Lift Up the Vulnerable to redefine what genuine love means by caring for the most vulnerable children and women. We are setting out to fund an elementary school classroom and prevent human trafficking in warzones.
